The Japanese in general aren't extremely interested in console gaming, and are even less interested in non-Japanese businesses.
I'm not going to agree with this statement.
Nintendo Switch and PS4 are both very popular as home consoles, along with Mini Famicom and Mini Super Famicom.

And while it was true that Japanese used to be little to not interest in non-Japanese businesses, with the raise of popular games from western nations this has changed a lot in recent years.
Lots of people started using Discord from somewhere last year, with Minecraft and PUBG being by far the most played game at the time.
Nowadays discussions on Discord in Japan has been much more generalised, and Fortnite has gained lots of popularity among younger people.

I'm pretty sure Microsoft already knows that Japan wants nothing to do with Xbox, it simply can't muscle in on a territory split so evenly by Sony and Nintendo.

They already knows Windows Phone was failing worldwide; they still tried for a few years.
They already knows everyone escapes Skype; they still try.
They already knows nobody want Bing; they still force Windows user to use.

This is good news for Xbox fans who want to play more Japanese games like JRPG.
