YouTube Launches Paid Subscription Channels

Interesting feature addition. Only advertising and payments can sustain things like this, though. Tumblr nearly went bankrupt and had to be acquired by Yahoo, because of their titanic debts, which they obtained by using "Pay For Premium." as a business model. It doesn't work.

Crowd Funding individual Channels on YouTube may sustain talented video makers. It would be interesting if Google/YouTube created a crowd funding site for helping video creators fund short films, music videos, and other videos, so they won't need to join Kickstarter, Indiegogo, etc to fund video production, and YouTube gets a small percentage of the Crowd funding revenue, and crowd funders can download the video, or stream it without any ads.

Google also has Google Wallet, so people with a Gmail account can very easily make a Gwallet account to crowd fund a video maker.

From the pure side of the salespeople I know who utilize different services (PayPal, Google Wallet, etc.), I can say that it's extremely cumbersome, and very glitchy.

Indeed, there is also Bitcoin, and other digital currencies like Amazon Coin which can make accepting money even harder with the different conversion rates to the US Dollar.

Some people also pay with Amazon Giftcards for online services like Web hosting.
