When growing up, there will come a time when you become cash strapped and need to make some money. Some will turn to fast food jobs while others make go for a more mature 18+ job. If the person goes for the latter, their past could hunt them if they ended up with decent job where your every action reflects on your job.


So do you feel it's right or wrong to fire someone from their current job or hassle them because they worked in the adult (porn) industry in their past?

I wouldn't say it is right but you have to prepare yourself for that possibility later on in life for when those incidents occur, and you cant really blame anyone but yourself.

And yes, if that person lied about it (although it is understandable why they'd do so..) or intentionally omitted it from their resume, and it was discovered then yes they deserve to be fired.

Also if they are working with a company that places a lot of value on appearance and maintaining a respectable image to their consumers then firing them would be the appropriate move to maintain their image and reputation.

All choices have consequences.
 
Right. I agree and I'm not saying that their choice makes them bad people, and quite often, they are actually victims in it.

Some women are actually tricked, mentally, emotionally, sexually and physically bullied, abused and forced into doing it by their spouses or significant others and then are forced to keep doing it by their producers.

Many times, these producers, like pimps do with their prostitutes, get their actors hooked on drugs and for the same reason, to control them.

These same women likely started as prostitutes in the same way they got started into doing porn.

While others, choose to do so because it is a quick buck, that pays well and requires very little to no brains or skill at all.

However, regardless of the circumstances, that got them into doing porn, it is a decision that will remain with them for the rest of their lives.

These people, will have a difficult time going back to a normal life and trying to fit in with others, they will have some difficulty getting their privacy because there will always be those who'll recognize them and remind them of who they used to be and a few will want to take advantage of them because of it.

This will happen regardless of the years that have passed and whatever non-industry based achievements they've accomplished. Unfortunately, this legacy will only be passed on to their families.

This is probably why former actors end up working in the sex industry even after they've retired and aren't doing movies or appearances any more.

Nonetheless, these are all consequences of their decision, whether it was choosing to do so of their own volition, or agreeing to do whatever sexual act their spouse or significant other wanted them to.

Sadly, for many of these people, the abuse and chaos that got them into, and kept them in this lifestyle, will always be apart of their lives when they leave it. They end up going from one abuser to the next, drugs and alcohol (and sometimes legal trouble) will always be in the picture, and the destruction will always continue to be apart of their lives until they silence it all by committing suicide.
 
What about the students? They've access to the same information parents do, they'll find it faster as this is the digital age and are more likely to use it in their favor against the teacher upon discovery.

I would prefer these teachers being counselors and coordinators of outreach programs where they be able to pin point the at risk youth report them to the proper channels and get them the help they need. It would be similar to the inmates on the Scared Straight program, or abuse victims counseling students on the warning signs of abuse and what will happen if they don't get out.
 
Not saying I have a lot of knowledge in this area *coughs* but I doubt they would find old adult stuff on current adults of today.


But I see where your going as I doubt a student could be in the class room with a teacher that did a porno.
 
It is definitely possible that you'd have a kid in a classroom with a teacher that did worse.

Not too long ago, a teacher was fired because she used to be a stripper..

Thing is, quite often the schools are aware of the teachers past, and decided to hire them anyway. Yet, they still decide to throw the teacher under the bus because some parent found out about the teacher's past, and the school administration decided to cover their own ass.
 
I think it shouldn't be allowed to fire someone based on something they did in the past, its obvious discrimination. I get that these establishments have a name to keep, but if the person was honest about his/her past activities and you still hired them, you can't fire them once it public.
 
Nope, it isn't right, period. But I think they do it because it might cause a distraction among other employees? Or they think those "things" they did will occur at work? If that's what they wanted to do at that time, fine. Nothing to do with what he/she does now.

All they care about is their images, they don't care about what these people did in the past, they worry about what people will think/say.

Not only that, but it is the parents that end up paying for the teachers salaries and schools' funding via taxes and the administrations know this fact and that pissing them off would be like biting the hand that feeds you.

And so, even if the school doesn't agree with firing the teacher, and they know that there will be legal ramifications from the teacher if/when they decide to sue, they've no choice but to oblige because it is the parents and parental groups that have the final say.

Background searches are normal. If there's anything a job owner doesn't like, by all means it's their right to say no to them.
It's not necessarily right but it's still going to be done.
People can't get jobs for a number of reasons; past jobs, looks, tattoos, etcetcetc.
Does that mean it's right?

Say you got a tattoo when you were younger and you regret it. However, you don't have the money to cover or remove it.
You need a job to do so. Is it right to not be hired because of your past?
No. But it happens.
