Ahhh, another April 1st has gone by. Has everyone survived? All my members here? Good, it was another day of jokes everyone that broke hearts, enraged others and cost people their jobs/business. You can find a decent round up here and here but the biggest one was Google's joke which altered a key feature on their gmail service.

So did anyone get prank or trolled or rick rolled (if thats still a thing)?
 
I love the websites that changes their layout and stuff for one day. x3

Good thing they did pull it back once they hear the backlash. The problem with it was that it not only added the image but it also would take you out of the conversation so further email would arrive outside the normal inbox and without notifying you at all.

We heard feedback that some of you were negatively impacted by this feature, so we quickly turned it off late last night. In addition, we are working to bring back Mic-Dropped messages that had subsequent replies to your inbox, so you can read those.

We realize many of you use Gmail for very important messages, and we are sorry if Mic Drop was in any way harmful to you. Note that if you’re a Google Apps business, education or government user this feature was never turned on.

At Google we have a culture of sharing what we learned when things go wrong, and we want to share these learnings with you:

We should have asked you before turning on the feature, and it should have included a confirmation before sending.
We didn't anticipate accidental clicks: "Send + Mic Drop" was too close to other send buttons ("Send" as well as "Send & Archive"), which caused confusion.
And yes there was a bug. It was rare, but possible to press the regular "Send" button and still Mic Drop if you did the following:
Opened a new compose window
Pressed the “Send & Mic Drop” button with no recipients and saw error message
Edited the message by adding message recipient(s)
Pressed the regular send button.

Again, sorry. We love April Fools jokes at Google, and we regret that this joke missed the mark and disappointed you.

I usually like Google's pranks but they really screwed it with this one.

cue the privacy people who will lose their minds at Google able to reply to anyone they wish. Though they could side step that by sending the email to every last email on ever email provider.
 
I didn't do anything this year it wasn't because I didn't want to but because activity at my place has died and I have been so busy since I got back that April pretty much snuck up on me..

I am pretty sure that I have already paid rent 2x this month..

Last year I changed my sites skin to the very first skin I had ever made when I was on Proboards back in 2004 and had a loop of "Never Gonna Give You Up" embedded in the index page..

I also changed everybody's theme to that one so that when they came onto the forum, they would get it..

At midnight, I took off the mp3 loop, but left the skin up just in case anyone wanted some nostalgia..
