Are games becoming too realistic?

Nah. However I have moved away from thinking of graphics as the measure of the quality of a game and appreciate alternative artstyles a lot more.
But there's a place for games that look the best in the industry too.

I don't have a strong prefrence to be honest, it's just one of those things that will depend on what game I'm playing. For example, GTA, I want it to be more realistic. A game like Apex or Fortnite, I don't care about the graphics

I think they are and I don't like it, sure I like them to look nice how it was on PS2 and PS3/PS4 days, but I still want them to look like video games and not run up cost of development or time it takes to make games.

I think games can be uncanny when they are realistic, especially with facial expressions, lip reading, or even updating an older, more stylized design. The effort put there does show when you have a larger studio. However, function should be put over looks.

Realistic 3d Character model or not becomes a non factor for me if the game has PLOT stuff and the PLOT stuff is up to my PLOT snuff lol
