Trump said that the war in Ukraine would be over within 24 hours of his victory. We should maybe keep a tally of how many campaign promises are broken.Trump being friendly with Putin could cause Putin to want to end the war in Ukraine. There was a report the other day that Putin was looking to speak with the US again after Trump is sworn in.
I might actually applaud the 1% for actually following through, and not talking out their ass.Anyone who (tries to) move to a new country after this needs their head examining.
No Canada is Terrible now everyone is waiting for Justin Trudeau to leave his government officeWhat’s unsurprising is how search results for “moving to Canada” skyrocketed last week because there’s a face amongst the American left that Canada is a liberal haven despite the fact it’s not.
I always feel like people who act like this are that one kid you knew in high school that thinks your hometown is the worst in the world and bitches about it all the time, then several years later he’s still there with no major lifestyle change and is still whining about it.
If it gets above 0.01% I'd be pleasantly surprised.I might actually applaud the 1% for actually following through, and not talking out their ass.
I think people that hate where they live have some notion that where they're at is the worst at basically everything, and this dream location of theirs is the idealized place that lives up to their expectations, but don't realize it's either the same bullshit but different name, or you have to deal with a different kind of bullshit. No Canada is Terrible now everyone is waiting for Justin Trudeau to leave his government office
Most of the time it's the media (TV, News, Online boards) that causes a stir in that notion so people can start some bullshitI think people that hate where they live have some notion that where they're at is the worst at basically everything, and this dream location of theirs is the idealized place that lives up to their expectations, but don't realize it's either the same bullshit but different name, or you have to deal with a different kind of bullshit.
Most of those guys are just big talk and no action.
Yeah, usually they hype up the good shit and ignore or hide under the rug the bad shit. Most of the time it's the media (TV, News, Online boards) that causes a stir in that notion so people can start some bullshit
Well I held out hopes his threats were just a negotiating tactic but he's fucking serious.
Good article on what Trump's tariffs are going to do since people don't seem to believe me.
What Trump’s Trade War Would Mean, in Nine Charts
If implemented, President Trump’s tariffs on Canada, China, and Mexico could upend U.S. trade. These nine charts show what’s at stake, what comes next, and why it matters.www.cfr.org
25% tariffs on economies like canada and Mexico which are so heavily export oriented and integrated with the US will literally destroy their economies.
Prices for cars, fuel, fertilizer and whatever else is imported will increase to make up for it locally. Businesses which rely on imported stuff will suffer immensely and might go out of business. A simple recession would be you guys getting off easy and you'd also have a couple of failed states on your borders who now hate you.
Trump thinks either he will make manufacturing jobs come back to the US because of these tariffs and/or it's a way to make up for the budget deficit/national debt, however the first option is nearly impossible for the vast number of consumer goods whose prices would triple moving from a country like China with it's GDP per capita like 1/6th of the US to the US. But the orangutan is also announcing tariffs on Taiwan (Semiconductors!!) and other countries providing raw materials. Why the fuck would you tariff raw materials and not finished goods if you want to bring manufacturing into the US? Essentially making yourself even less attractive. The second option is also ridiculous because I refuse to believe trump cares about anything other than himself.
When countries like Vietnam and India and loads of others exist for companies wanting to escape tariffs who simultaneously don't want to pay the american wage for a worker this whole plan falls apart. I didn't even touch on the tariffs he's threating on the entire EU and what the response targeted tariffs from each of them will do. I cannot comprehend how people cited the economy, inflation and unemployment as reasons for voting for him when his entire platform was on making everything worse. That's not my opinion that's as simple as cause and effect.
Will the next dem president remove his disastrous tariffs? Most likely but why would the business community trust America to be a good place to to business when earth shattering tariffs are just a changed administration away? Uncertainty makes investors wary, both local and the ones from the tariffed countries and you'll also see capital flight which you won't be able to measure directly but will be another silent nail in the coffin.
Oh yeah, we are fucked, a country that made up idiots that fucked us. HOWEVER, from my understanding, there is an international review of the election and if they find enough sabotage they could invoke a UN article and have Trump removed from office yet. Not sure what weight is behind it, but it is the world's only god-damn hope at this time.
Till then, god and devil alike help our souls.
