Sony is partnering with Activision to dust off an old faithful PS1 IP, Crash Bandicoot!

At their conference tonight they announced that Crash, Crash 2 and Crash Warped will be remastered for Playstation 4. Crash will also be coming to Skylanders Imaginators come October.

This remaster I get the feeling will almost be like a remake, they will put so much effort into this - they kinda have to because the games wouldn't remaster well on their own, most assets will have to be rebuilt. I'm hoping this is a great success and then Sony and Activision agree a deal to make a new Crash game.

I'm looking forward to this, although if it's a full price, I doubt I'll be paying it. I always was a fan of Crash and wouldn't mind showing my niece and nephew an old school game without them complaining about 'old graphics'.

I would love to play this! Crash Bandicoot was one of the first games I ever played. The old ones are still fun to play, but they really haven't aged well. I would be really exited to try the redesigned version. I can't wait to hear/see more about it!

I'm actually really excited for this. The original Crash Bandicoots, (and spin-off games) were some of my favorite games I've ever played. Also, the fact they're stating it'll be a faithful remake, is just wonderful news. Too many companies try to reinvent the series in a reboot, and let everyone down. I'm extremely hopeful that this will be a great game, and it will give me that classic Crash Bandicoot experience. Updated graphics, but similar gameplay wise. So glad it's not going to be one of those awful reboots (kind of like some of the Sonic games)

I am a huge fan of the series from the very first time I laid my hands on a PlayStation controller. Crash Bandicoot has been my buddy in gaming during my childhood, from his platform games to the Crash Team Racing spin-off, which was great too considering my brothers and I preferred it over Mario Kart growing up. Now that they are going to remaster these awesome games, I guess I'm gonna have to use my time machine in order to bring back the child in me and play it like I did back then. I'll get one and me and my brothers can play all day like we used to in the 90s and early 2000s. This is probably the biggest surprise in the E3 announcements for me, I don't care about the new games as much as Crash Freakin Bandicoot.

While Crash Bandicoot is no doubt a classic and I think a remaster will probably sell well, I'd much rather prefer the game developers move forward and come up with new games that we can play into the future.

Remaking games just seems like a quick and easy way to make money to me, and the only way I'd buy the Crash Bandicoot games again would be if they was released on a budget level. I certainly wouldn't want to pay $60 for the privilege anyway, I know that!

It may be quick and easy, but it sees if people would buy a modern Crash game.

I bet the succesful crowfunding of Yooka-Laylee (currently in development by former Banjo Kazooie's team) motivated the reasons behind bringing back Crash Bandicoot, because with dusting off this beloved franchise, Sony recognized there's still public for 3D Collectathon and platformer franchises in mainstream media.

Also, in the last years there was always a latent interest in the returning of Crash Bandicoot. Certainly, He didn't win the rivalty battle alongside Mario and Sonic, but I reckon He fought long and well.

I have been playing 1year of my life the lite version of Crash Bandicoot with my cousin, I am happy to see it alive once again. :D

though I love the idea, I believe that it is a bad idea as well. Bandicoot is more than just a game now, the character has become an Icon, much like prominent figures such as Sonic and Mario. This poses a dilemma because it is hard to balance what modifications will be made to the over all new design of the character. Revamping Crash in a way that is well received by Crash Bandicoot enthusiasts and appealing to potential customers will be no easy task.

I can't wait to see the result of this! I remember growing up as a kid and playing Crash Bandicoot: Warped all the time! I must have beat the game at least 50-60 times. However, if the game is priced at $60, I will not be purchasing it. I love the whole series, but not enough to buy the remastered editions for full price.

I am excited for Crash Bandicoot to come to the PS4. I grew up with the series and I loved every minute of playing those games as a kid. I'm super excited about it. I'm not really excited about him coming to Skylanders, though. I feel like it's unnecessary to me.

I know what you mean, when I think of Spyro, the first image that pops up on my mind is the one from the PS1 series, a cute but powerful young dragon. The new version of him is not cute anymore, just powerful. The newest version has Sonic eyes....

Any remake of a classic game is going to bring out mixed emotions in a lot of gamers I think. I'm sure we all remember the first game we played and have fond memories.

Playing that game now, or a reworked version, on a new system won't have that same magic I wouldn't have thought, and even though the actual game itself is probably better, it's just not the same as we remember.

I was just browsing the forum when I saw Crash Bandicoot name. I am so happy they will do this I cannot tell you. Of course I played all the games and and I felt as we all did that it was unfair it was not made for PS3. Now they came to their senses and this is just amazing. It would be ice to do Crash Racing Team. I loved that game and it would probably be a great thing to play online in multi-player.
