This would be in regards to short term memory failure, but have you ever saved your game and then moments later wonder if you saved it and did it again to be safe?

Yup. It happens to me once in a while. Having OCD, it's not mostly because of memory failure, but rather because of having to make sure that I did it correctly.

I tend to always save twice before exiting the game - not really because I forget if I have (although sometimes that happens) - but because I worry that the game didn't actually save.

Games should have a notification system to let gamers know how long it has been since they last saved the game...

I save at least twice before closing a game almost every time. I lived too long without memory cards to lose a save.
