Do slow CPU feel Slower in Windows compared to most other Operating Systems like Linux?

Someone once said that Java is great for large enterprise systems but shit on desktop software. I had to learn Java at tafe once and didn't like it.

I haven't had many problems using Java programs in Windows. Although, I mostly used Java to play games like Runescape, and to use those YouTube video downloading java programs on websites like Keepvid.

The whole thing is that Java's runtime has tons of security holes, and once they fix some, more come in return.
Doesn't have anything to do with whether apps work on a certain OS or not.

That is unfortunate that the Java runtime has a ton of security vulnerabilities. But, I feel security vulnerabilities in software you use is always a risk like using Windows and older versions of Internet Explorer on Windows XP which contain security vulnerabilities.

I think Java can be more safer to use on an computer which rarely or never connects to the internet after all the security updates are installed on it. User who use the java runtime not using their PC for important tasks like work, school, e-mail or logging into websites like social networks and banks which have your personal info.

Using Java apps from a trusted website/person, and disabling the Java runtime on Browsers when you don't need to use it can decrease the chance of a java runtime security vulnerability from infecting a PC. Making your own Java apps which don't exploit the security vulnerabilities can keep your PC safer.

Java is also still being used. Minecraft, Runescape, and many online games are based on Java, so it still have a huge user base. Students would complain if the teacher taught a programming language where fewer companies in their country uses.

but its being taught for a degree that will never use java programming.

Requiring students to learn classes like Java and Math which few people will use after graduating is one of the problems with College/University, and Technical Schools because it makes students have to pay more for school, and stay in school longer which may not be good if they need money to pay off student loans, or support a family if they need to take care of their kids, or the elderly like their grand mother or older parents.

I believe it depends. Not all the windows functionalities uses...all the resources after all.
So, I think it is true for some stuff and is not applicable to some other stuff.
