13 JUNE 2017
  • Shadow of the Colossus for PS4 revealed
  • God of War out early 2018
  • Insomniac's Spider-Man also out 2018
  • Monster Hunter Worlds announced
  • Horizon Zero Dawn DLC The Frozen Wilds announced

Where Microsoft's Xbox conference was about new beginnings and an attempt to fire the imagination, PlayStation's goal was one of momentum, building on the success and goodwill that it has so far wrung out of the PS4.

To that end, the Japanese company filled their E3 briefing with peppy, relentless gameplay and little filler, but made few new announcements on the day. We did get news of a remake of the wonderful Shadow of the Colossus for PS4 and Capcom revealed sprawling action-RPG Monster Hunter Worlds. Sony also announced a handful of new VR titles such as The Inpatient, a psychological chiller from Until Dawn developers Supermassive Games. And for fans of the excellent Horizon Zero Dawn, Aloy will be back in The Frozen Wilds DLC.

Otherwise it was left to already announced games to demonstrate Sony's upcoming library. There were lengthy gameplay demoes of Uncharted 4 DLC The Lost Legacy, Days Gone, God of War and Insomniac's Spider-Man. The latter two games were announced for 2018, while Days Gone will sneak into 2017 on the 29th of December.
