There is 1st person and 3rd person video games, and now, 4th person video games.

how does that work? I thought 3rd person was good enough, I guess not, haha. xD

Would like to see how 4th is. ^^

Ah, okay, I get it. The fourth person is a view that's much farther away from the character. 1st person shows you what the character is seeing, third person is normally over the shoulder view and fourth person is just like a cross between a bird's eye view and a third-person view.

My question now is, what's a second person point of view? :D

I think the novelty factor may wear out quite quickly in this kind of game. It is always great to try new things and that needs to be rewarded but personally I'd like it if game developers just went back to some old school style games, focusing on the actual game story and mechanics rather than fiddling with every little detail and spending most of their time on visual affects and the aesthetics of a game

Well, if first person is that you're in the eyes of a character, third person is that you're behind the character, I'm not sure how fourth person would actually work out. This is more like top down gaming with a unique twist of anything. Would like to see more gameplay videos though.

Does this mean that Bastion and Transistor are fourth person games according to this game's perspective? Or am I getting confused here? I still don't understand how this would actually work.... Looks interesting though.

This reminds me of top-down games. But from the moment where he picks up the key, I see a slight issue.
In the top-down games (like older Zelda), it isn't difficult to locate items.
With this, you would either have to consult a walkthrough or screw around for hours until you found it.

That in mind, this will be niche. But I guess most independent titles are like that.

It's very pretty and well-scored, but even though I'm not elderly as in eyesight failing or anything... I don't think I could stand to play in fourth person for very long!

Second person might be if you get to shuffle around characters in your party, I guess? Like FF12, or to some extent The Last of Us where you get to switch point of views. I'm really just guessing, though. Maybe there is no second person.

Second person would be you controlling a character who is seen through the eyes of another person.

So for example...if you controlled, let's say, Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil 4. Only your camera was the viewpoint of Ashley Graham, if you see what I mean?

Its a very interesting concept w hen you sit and think about it but I do not hink that it is something that I would play for a very long time because just sitting and watching that video just now I became very boredd really quickly. It looks cool but I think that it will become just the norm just like everything else in the video gaming world

Isn't this just isometric view? I don't see the reason to call it fourth-person view just because the camera is further from the character. What's next? Strategu games are 15th person view?
I think this is just a marketing ploy to drum up interest.

If that's the explanation, then a lot of the strategy games I have played so far can be considered fourth person games? This is illogical, in my opinion...

This concept may work and should not be overpriced, as that can ruin the company if they overprice the game and could lose people who will not show interest in the game. I reckon the view will be like where you have a part in the game so the character, looks for something or does what you want with you having a small influence in the choices made. It should be interesting to see what happens, in the game and maybe we will see more made this way if it has a good success rate when it is sold.

Isn't 3rd person view same as 4th person?

3rd person view doesn't need to be over shoulder, it can also be from far away and it's still 3rd person...

I don't get it.
