Games you wouldn't/shouldn't play in the dark?

Dead Space. I can hardly play that game in the light, let alone the dark. I needed like every light on to play at my friends' house.

Lol that's the same with me. One night I decided to play it on my iPod and it scared the firetruck outta me!

I thought of another game not to play in the dark...

Dark Seed and Dark Seed 2. Yes these are both really crappy games, but they have actually scary parts in them that terrify me.

Silent Hill 1, 2 and 3 are very good for a scare.

RE1 on the gamecube, and maybe RE2 if youre not familiar with it too much.

When swimming in water in Super Mario 64. THAT BIG EEL!! AND THE FISH THAT EATS ME!! AND THE DARN CHAIN CHOMP!! AND THE GIANT PIRANHA PLANTS!! AND THAT PIANO!! That's creepy.

Oh god the eel.. I remeber first time I saw it and I got goosebumps all over me.. (gåsehud)

I remember when I first played the game, the eel was in the ship so I was like, "How do I get in the ship?" So I got really close to it and it did nothing so I thought, "Maybe I need to do something first." So I leave and it's gone. When I saw the mission Can the Eel Come Out to Play I thought he was nice eel. As soon as I got close, he bit me and nearly had a heart attack because I was so scared.

I haven't played this game, but I've watched some gameplay on Youtube (even while watching it, it made me jump) and TOM 2.0 on Toonami talked about it and gave it a "review" (he didn't even know what to give it). Anyways, it's called SLENDER. Yeah nobody really knows why you're in the woods late at night by yourself, why you're picking up random papers on different things (like a grain silo), why there's this being with no face chasing you trying to make you go insane, and why the f**k you won't just get the crap out of there as soon as possible, but let's face it, it's freaken' scary.

Dementium was pretty messed up. Half-Life 2 is pretty fucking scary in the dark, especially Ravenholm. Condemned 2: Bloodshot is freaky as well.

Guess what guys! I'm gonna play Slender! And record the reaction! Sort of. We'll see how it goes.

But yeah, I'll have to try out a few of these other ones. Especially that "Nine hours; Nine persons" or something one, seems interesting.

Can someone please explain why Dan decided to Skype call me whilst recording his reaction and is highly possibly recording my voice whilst he's at it? Haha.

Anyway, I tend to stay away from 'scary' games. I wouldn't class Luigi's Mansion as 'scary' so... That's the only 'scary' game I can think of that I've played. But games do have scary moments, like at one point in Halo Reach there's a plasma sword-wielding Elite that suddenly jumps out in front of you when you don't want him to, in seconds he's on top of you.

Well, I'm not a horror fan at all (my mind is active enough when it comes to torturing me without added help, thanks) but if I had to pick a couple games...

Metroid Prime Hunters...the opening scene on the Celestial Archives is the only time the game does the mood really well...I remember when I first got the game...I played until I got the message about "confirmed arrival of unidentified aircraft"...knowing it to be one of the hunters, I flipped out and shut the game off for a day.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. This one's probably the scariest game I've played. The corpses that jump out at you for a second, then crumble to dust with a ghostly scream when you open some doors? I jump every time. The times where there're so many bodies nearby that you know darn well something powerful is in the area? I start to worry. It's not designed to be a horror game, but it sure as heck freaks me out.

And finally, Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX. I'm kidding here for the most part...but I'll never forget the day I jumped and freaked out bad enough to drop my Game Boy Color when Keapora Gaebora showed up as I was leaving the desert. I have no clue WHY it scared me so bad, but the suddenness of it probably scared me worse than any other game.

I feel the exact same way as you for both Metroid Prime Hunters and Corruption. Freaked me out so much.

In other news, I have 22 minutes of Slender gameplay. I just need to chop and edit the start and end and I think I'll be good to show it off to the world.

Also, there's a freeware indie game called "Slender" that's absolutely horrifying whether you play it in the dark or not. It's awesome, and it'll scare the pants off ya.

...And yes, it's obviously based on Slenderman.

Well luckily for you I recorded my reaction and I'm in the process of getting the video up. Just need to polish it off. Hopefully I'll make a series of me playing scary (and free, because I'm cheap) games.
