I never really said what happens :) You shape his destiny. But anyway it ends, the official statement from CDPR was that it will be the last game for him. They want to end it on high note, and they surely did. Especially when they released the last DLC.

Going a bit off-topic, but in case you haven't seen the trailer for the last DLC they released, it is so frigging epic.
