What's your thought on all of this, especially if you live in the US? How about how some politicians seem to be wrongly blaming violent video games for problems and shootings rather than the actual weapons or the lunatics using them?

Personally, as someone not from the US, I think the following about these matters:
Gun Control
They should be more difficult to get in the US, but making them illegal is an incredibly stupid idea that'll lead to much the same problems that things like drug laws do now. In fact, I think going too far could easily lead to some pretty violent results that people would severely regret due to how tied into US culture said weapons are, and I think that merely tightning controls would be better.
There should be better resources for people with mental health issues, maybe better ways to diagnose them, etc.
Video games and violence
There is no proven link, and it's very disturbing how politicians seem to be happier to blame games than either guns, mental illness or any non game form of media for things like this. I think all these extra attempts at 'research' are a waste of time and money (again, look at crime outside the US where the same games are readily available).
Other
I really don't like the idea some people suggest of arming teachers.
So yes, what do you think about this whole thing?
