Have you ever grown attached to a video game character?

I don't really care what game or whatever, but this has happened to me. Mostly in RPG games where there's a lot of story telling. For me, I've grown attached to the following:

  • Cecil from Final Fantasy IV
  • Luso from Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift
  • Goombella from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
  • Bowser from Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
  • Dr Stiles from Trauma Center: Under the Knife 1 and 2
  • Kyle Hyde from Hotel Dusk 215 and Last Window: The Secret of Cape West

All of these people, I've just grown super attached to. I don't know why, I guess it just must be the awesome story telling. Plus they're all awesome!

What about yourself? Any characters out there you love to bits so much that you kinda feel sad when you finish the game. I know I felt super sad for Bowser when I had won BiS, and the same goes for Cecil, except I just missed his story and wanted that to continue (it actually did continue in a sequel, but I never got that).

The turrets from Portal. They try to kill you, but they're soooooooo cute.

Sothe from Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn just because he was in one of the previous games and sucked really bad but in Radiant Dawn he turned into an actually useful Rogue and was just a complete BAMF.

Ike from Fire Emblem Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. A lot of gamers make fun of him for being gay because he's the only main Lord from the FE series who doesn't get married or fall in love because he travels off with his best friend Soren in end game.

^ Nephenee and Oscar from the same game ^ Nephenee's my favorite girl unit who kicks the crap out of people and doesn't know how to die or get hurt. She's a shy character who doesn't talk much. A strong girl who is deeply shy. Oscar is my favorite Paladin. He kills people with his eyes closed with a smile still on his face. Such a good knight that had to abandoned his knighthood to take care of his brothers. Damn his step mom.

Luigi because I feel bad when characters in the games call him the green guy, green stache, or have no idea who he is.

Edit:

Also Lucas from Earthbound 2 (Mother 3). A young boy who loses his mother Hinawa and his brother Claus during the beginning and the end of the game. Leaving him, his dad Flint, and his dog Boney behind. What a sad twist to the game.

Oh. I know the game my friend has it. I just wasn't thinking Mass Effect I guess.

For me it was Yoshi. It started when when I played Super Mario World on SNES. I would get sad when I lost my Yoshi. I would also get really mad at sister when she kicked her baby yoshi off the edge of a cliff for fun. Then my obsession grew with Yoshi's Island on the GBA. Yoshi's Island DS and Super Mario 64 DS. Now, any game with yoshi in it is a must buy for me. I love Yoshi's positive happy aura. and the fact that Yoshi is a Dinosaur, makes me love him even more. I also loves that he comes in a variety of colours

I remember being attached to spaceships/Jets like the Arwing from Starfox, since I like airplanes, and this character I made up.

The partner from PMD and PMD2.
And Delta 62 from Republic Commando, mostly because he seems to be the physical incarnation of that part of me I have to suppress when I'm in public.

Yeah It's hard not to attach to the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Characters. The first game in that series was probably the better one in that aspect, just because it was the first and was very different from any other Pokemon game.

I forgot about Mystery Dungeon. I loved me Charmander partner! So small and adorable... *sniff*

Bastila, Morrigan, and Alistair, Carth, and Alyx Vance are all characters I felt emotionally attached to.They are re just awesome people.Of course I never went so far as falling in love with these characters. I just have to draw a line somewhere.

Heh, yup, don't want to be falling in love with fictional characters any time soon myself, either.

I really like the partner character from the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red/Blue Rescue Team series. They really become friends with your character through some pretty good storytelling. I always think the ending is kind of sad, when you almost leave them.

I know exactly what you mean! I didn't want to leave my little friend either!
