How ITT Tech Screwed Students

If you haven't heard, ITT Tech, a costly college was out for only one thing and it wasn't to give students the future they needed. They were out to make money only for themselves and made sure to screw everyone over to do it.

ITT can sell their school buildings, and possessions like computers, equipment, tables, and other stuff and use the money from the sales of building, and possessions to refund students their winter tuition if they already paid for their September to December winter classes.

The school may still have the money which students paid for their winter classes if ITT tech did not spend the money yet, and the money is still deposited in their bank account.

I'm not sure who owns that stuff really, but getting their money back wouldn't be ITT's priority and I'm sure everything will be repossessed by the government.

I agree the government would probably repossessed most of ITT's possessions which it can legally repossessed to get some of their money back.

I wonder would students still have to pay back the government for government student loans if they did not get to start the winter 2016 semester at ITT tech because the school suddenly closed down without notice which means they never got the education which they paid for even if the education at ITT was not good.
 
I agree there is nothing worse than finding out the rug is pulled under you. Hopefully, the students can at least sell their books they bought on eBay to get back some of their money which they spent on books.

Now would be a good time for students which were enrolled in the Fall 2016 semester to seek financial help from the government and other organizations to see if there are any options of not paying as much of their student loans back because they never got to attend their fall 2016 classes at ITT tech.

pending on their loan, they won't have to pay anything back for the first six months meaning they have time to enroll into a spring semester and keep their loans frozen yet.

Hopefully, students who have not graduated can attend another college, or community college which is sometimes less strict, and let you use credits from computer, math, and English courses which they took in high school, and other colleges.
 
I don't see how a school can take your money but then not return it if they close down. I fail to see how that is legal. I would totally be ticked off at having the rug pulled out from under me. School is extremely expensive these days. I don't think that the students shouldn't be forced to pay that back for the ones that have student loans.

Hopefully the government will step in and help the stranded students. But a whole semester loss is something they will never get back.
 
Government can do so much or other legal entities and refunding every single students who attended there will not be able to give the refunds ever since the ITT Tech has a problem. Surprisingly, they are still active today and it sad to know that this students can't find a job or struggling and in debt with student loan really screwed by one institution who is falsely advertised.

I agree, a whole semester loss would be something they would not get back, and they may lose out on 4 months or longer of employment at a tech related job which pays is better than their current minimum wage job if they have one. There also maybe fewer job openings after 4 months because some companies may hire people at the beginning of the work year, and slowdown hiring after the New Year has pass.

It maybe a good time for some students to think about studying for a Tech certification like the Comptia A+, Security+, and Network+ exam, so they don't spend a whole semester sitting at home, and looking for another school which sometimes take more than a semester to do if the new school requires you to be on a wait list because classes are full, and needs you take extra classes like Math, Psychology, English, History and Sciences just to be accepted into the school.

A lot of tech companies are less likely to hire people who never graduated unless the person has a lot of experience working in tech like regularly volunteering at fixing computers and computer networks at a school or non-profit organizations, or the worker has a tech certification like Comptia A+, Network+, and Security+.

Passing tech certification exams proves that they studied, and know the information needed for a tech job like computer and network technician.
