I don't go out without my purse and I will always have cash in it.

India underwent demonetization around 6 years back and it was a disaster. Didn't fix shit in terms of curbing black money and banks were overwhelmed and my mother lost a whole lot of cash that she had stored somewhere and forgotten about.
Anyway with cards and UPI it's pretty easy to not need cash.

I have cash on at all times. I can't remember the day I went out without having at least $200 cash on me. If I can use cash for everything I need to pay for in a day, I'll be open to doing it.
