How old is Mario?

So as most of us know Donkey Kong for the arcade was based on Jumpman aka Mario fighting a giant monkey named Donkey Kong. (Yay for being obvious.) However did you know that there was also a Donkey Kong Jr? In DKJ, Mario kidnapped Donkey Kong for whatever reason. Maybe for stealing Pauline. So you play as DKJ to rescue him. Well in Donkey Kong Country, you have Crankey Kong, who is the grandfather of Donkey Kong. However, Crankey Kong is Donkey Kong from the arcade game. Meaning that Donkey Kong Jr. is this gen's Donkey Kong's father. It's confusing to be honest.

This means that Mario has been around for 3 generations of Donkey Kongs. How old can Mario be at this point? I mean one would guess he's pretty old by the way he looks. However Mario must be at least over 100 years old by now.

I don't even know why I'm questioning Nintendo logic, but what do you guys think about this?
 
Based off how old he is from creation date, he is in his mid to late 20s, but in the actual game he looks... like a midget at the age of 20 or so.
 
He's always been middle-aged. It doesn't change throughout the series, as far as I know.

Yeah, but if you really think about it, it takes monkies and humans around the same time to grow since we are close in genetics like that.
 
so basically:
Cranky (arcade game DK) --> DK jr -> DK (current)
is the DK timeline
so what if the current mario ISN'T the old mario from the arcade game and is actually Mario jr, the kid of mario and pauline?

It would make sense that they are not the same mario. Think about it:

The first Mario (jumpman) was a carpenter and was in love with Pauline.

The current Mario is a Plumber who is in love with Peach (who is obviously not Pauline.)

With these differences, it stands to reason that these two Marios are different people.

My god it must be the only way. Maybe that's where Yoshi's Island DS comes into play? It seems like the only way.
 
which means:
DK TIMELINE = Cranky -> DK Jr -> Current DK
MARIO TIMELINE = Jumpman +Pauline -> Mario + Luigi
so we can assume that during arcade DK, jumpman is around 20-30 and during DK Jr, he is 30-40
sometime between DK jr and DK country, yoshi's island comes into play and that is after mario and luigi are born, with their parents being pauline and jumpman.
after that, mario and Luigi are still competing with the DKs.

He has countless of 1-UP mushrooms with him. He uses them at his current appearance so whenever he grows old and dies, he's resurrected by the 1-UP mushroom that brings him back to life at the current appearance in when he used it. Also to mention that he shares them with the rest of the gang, which explains why it looks like most of them haven't aged.
 
I really like Hellfire's explanation of this, haha. And then Cha goes and put up that picture of Pauline. Maybe Mario and Luigi have a sister, called Pauline? Explains the similarity in eyes, her preference of red, and also her moustache.

somewhere between 27 and 47. its a 20 year gap, i know. but its hard to pinpoint it. and monkeys do age faster than humans but not buy much (something like 10 years difference)

a sister /cousin we don't see all too often OR
some kind of rejuvenation mushroom

I was at work and I was litterally think about the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series and that Mario saves her in this game. So that blows that out.

Maybe... dang I got nothing. It could also be a sister or some relative of theirs. Though in Mario and Donkey Kong for the gameboy, at the end [/spoiler]They are in the Mushroom Kingdom. You can tell by the warp pipe and the ? blocks.[/spoiler] I doubt that means anything though.

if this pauline is jumpman's pauline, then that would make her in the region of 100 years old.
