Is this the worst game box art?

Everyone seems to be complaining about this box art for the upcoming shooter, Doom. The internet seem to think it looks very bad. Personally, I don't think it looks that bad, just basic. I also feel people complaining massively about it have a bit too much time on their hands.

Anyways, most people issue with it that its too generic. Someone could easily mistaken it as Halo 5 DLC.

Yeah I think the labeling of worst or bad is far wrong. I think it is just bland and generic.

I know I would want more on my boxart, something that makes people want to buy it.

Yeah, the art on the cover may not have been what I would have expected for that game. However, when I buy a video game, I'm buying it for the actual game. Not what they have portrayed on the cover of the box. If the game is good and I enjoy it, I can care less what they have on the box.

Probably colour blind people that are complaining about the crap box cover. Isn't terrible nor the greatest. Cover boxes are not going back into the hands of those people who don't like the idea of what could be done. Probably the people will make a cover even worse

they tried to capture the "COD" type of box art with terrible doom font sizing on the front.

A little bland, yes, but definitely not the worse of all box art. While I'm sure there are reasons to have box art that looks nice, most people aren't going to decide to either purchase or not purchase the game or that reason, so I'm not sure it is even that big a deal.

Seems fine to me. Obviously they haven't seen the early game box arts...Spectrum, NES, Amiga, etc.

I don't really see anything wrong with it. If you're used to spectacular-looking game box art, sure, it might seem a little bland, like others have noticed, but it's far from being the worst game box art.
