Yeah, it's definitely true. With the advent of instant communication, we hear about almost everything everybody does.
Unfortunately news tends to focus on stupid people doing stupid things because it gets the most attention, and that increase viewers, sells papers, etc.
Good role models seem to be few and far between.

While I agree that it's the responsibility of the parent to raise their own children, there are some things that aren't their fault and need help with. For example, disabilities and mental conditions, which I'm sure we will find out that this kid has after a psychiatric evaluation.

I would know as I have a younger brother with a learning disability. It's no one's fault, and we all needed some extra help in figuring out what worked best for him.
 
This is really sickening, I would never even considering murdering my parents or anyone else for that matter. Life is to precious, for someone to take it away against your will over something as ridiculous and petty as confiscating a Playstation is just gruesome, barbaric, and cold hearted. I would say I hope he rots in prison, however he'll likely get off and be charged as a juvenile and when he turns eighteen he might spend about ten to fifteen or twenty five years in an actual prison at most.
