Sounds like my university, haha. They rarely closed unless there was tons of snow and ice accumulation. Even then they still stayed open sometimes and it was up to those who lived off campus to make the decision on whether or not to come, at their own peril.

Colleges are businesses anymore, they lose profit when they're not open.

My university pretty much never closes, and this is basically what they say. Problem is we often have midterms / mandatory classes that can not be missed, so a lot of the time it's not as if we can just choose to stay home. My university has only closed twice in the entire 60 years it's been open. Every year there is at least one day where every other college/university is closed and mine stays open, every year people complain, every year they say they'll look into changing their policies, and every year nothing changes. D:

to put its self over the well being of the students, that college should be closed.
 
Like I said, college is a business, not a school. They care first about making money, second about the student's well-being. There was one spring where summer came early and we had weeks of 70+ degree weather and they refused to turn the A/C on because they wanted to 'make sure' that winter was over because my campus heating runs on coal. It took a bunch of students complaining to parents before they finally complied.
 
I disagree though. It takes a lot of complaining, both through the formal and informal channels, to get anything done. My school was much the same way. I was surprised to find out that they had not one but two snow days this week already. Kentucky must be getting hammered with snow for that to happen.
