Grunty's Revenge is a spinoff, and there's no reason why they wouldn't be able to make a Threeie. It's like saying that New Super Mario Bros. 2 can't be called that because NSMBWii came out first. It just doesn't make sense.

Grunty's Revenge is not a spin-off. See?

Don't know who edited that page, but 2 other Wikipedia sources say that it is a spin-off.

^ Grunty's Revenge is listed in the spin-offs category.

Not to mention its own Wikipedia page calls it a "spin-off game in the Banjo Kazooie series"

How can it be considered a spin-off? It would have to have a completely different gameplay style or require you to play as a secondary character such as Grunty or Bottles to be technically a spin-off in the same way that "Prinny, Can I Really Be The Hero" and Disgaea Infinite are spin-offs of Disgaea. The gameplay is exactly the same and the storyline continues where the first left off. There is nothing different about it other than the graphics and use of the backpack as a weapon.

What do you mean it's the exact same? The N64 games are platformers, and this isn't at all. And besides, it couldn't replace Banjo Threeie anyway because the game takes place before Tooie.

Grunty's Revenge is a platformer just the graphics aren't 64 bit. I beat the game and I can say without a doubt that it plays the same only you can't control the camera angles. And I agree with it not replacing Threeie in name because I had forgotten if it took place between or after 1 and 2 at first. It is also the hardest of the 3 games due to the final boss battle alone, I may add. What makes you think it isn't a platformer? You still jump, climb, and flutter from place to place exactly as you do in the N64 / XBLA games.

See? The images above are even very similar to the first game. Heck some of the areas in it are pulled directly FROM the first game.

And I just realized how badly off topic we have gotten lol I apologize. Banjo Kazooie is ... WAS my favorite Nintendo series until it moved to 360 and I would like to see another game NOT like Nuts & Bolts, but I have to agree with Dark Young Link... not by Retro Studios. Not that the Prime games were bad but they are SO different from the traditional Metroids that I'd be weary to see how much BK would stray.

What about Donkey Kong Country Returns? They didn't make the original ones yet it was still a masterpiece. And it was also a new game in a series that hadn't been touched in a long time.

Also, I've heard that a lot of the people who used to work at Rare (before they were bought by Microsoft) now work at Retro Studios. Is that true?

I never played it, remember? lol And as far as I know the employees at Retro aren't from Rareware / Ultimate. I can't find anything confirming they are. The Current CEO was from Acclaim and had worked with Rareware at one point but on an Acclaim project other than that, I don't know.

... Mother 4?

Mother is owned by HAL Laboratories who makes Pokémon, so I highly doubt it as I do not see them requiring anyone else's help - especially not a company who has more dropped game developments than they do successes.

Retro Studios has a bad habit of not meeting deadlines and having to cancel projects so they can focus on one, like they did with Metroid Prime 1, for example.

Yeah, but DKCR isn't really that good of a game. It's actually one of the main reasons I hate Retro Studios so much. I honestly think it's visually unapealing.

The sunset is pretty yes, but everything in silhouette just looks awful and just not good to look at.

Visually unappealing?

Yeah. I've played to World 4 because some old woman I work with plays it and wanted me to beat a level for her, so being the nice guy I am played up to world 4 and beat the level for her. I really didn't enjoy the game. Like the other DKC games. Really the only good DK game I've played is DK64. Not counting the arcade version.

You are one sad, strange little man.

I haven't played this DK game - only one I haven't actually... - but I will bet the graphics will be hard pressed to beat Metroid Other M. I was amazed the Wii could run it (until I found out that some Wiis couldn't and needed to be sent to Nintendo to be debugged so they could lol )

How can you compare something like DKCR with Other M graphics-wise?
That's like comparing Banjo Kazooie with Metal Gear Solid. :/

Cutscene graphics aside, I mean. The lighting effects and shading used in the in-game.

I'd give up fancy lighting, shading and all that stuff for more games with the creativity of DKCR.

When it comes out on 3DS I'm grabbing it. I'll see how creative it is first hand then. ^.^

It's definately the most creative Wii game I've played.
