Developing story. These days, amid the BLM and protesting it seems a lot of controversy surrounds gaming/entertainment companies of humiliating their employees in one way or the other. Discuss this specific instance with Ubisoft and this issue among the industry in general.

This is a never ending story it seems.

Not surprised. It seems a lot of gaming companies seem to have this problem. Twitch is another company that has been accused of a lot of things recently.

It also just seems like a lot of companies in general have this problem, regardless of industry. Standard human lousiness apparently.

Read a statement from the CEO:

Yves states “We are not looking for a quick fix, but rather a structural shift at Ubisoft that fully aligns with our values – values that do not tolerate toxic behaviors and where everyone feels safe to speak out. “. This shift includes appointing Lidwine Sauer as the newly created Head of Workplace Culture role where she will “examine all aspects of our company’s culture and to suggest comprehensive changes that will benefit all of us.”

Ubisoft will also now be undertaking staff listening sessions in all of their locations and will be launching an internal global survey that will be looking for candid, anonymous feedback designed to help reshape the company.

Yves also reiterated that the previously announced investigations into the allegations are still ongoing and “we must take the time necessary to ensure that they are carried out with the required rigor. When they are concluded, all appropriate actions will be taken. Should additional allegations or claims be brought to our attention, we will fully investigate those, as well”. This has also led Ubisoft to create a confidential alert platform that will allow employees and those outside of the company to report harassment, discrimination and other inappropriate behavior.

The final actions Yves outlines are an external audit of all policies and procedures within the company in order to improve them and make them “best in class” and the creation of a Head of Diversity and Inclusion role that is designed to improve “diversity across the organization, including in all of our management teams.”

I'll try and find the tweets about the actual Twitch staff members but this article is about some accusations against streamers on the site that are well known - Twitch responds to sexual abuse accusations, bans several streamers
There was one Twitch employee who abused their power by giving a girl Twitch perks which she wouldn't have normally gotten. Then one time they met up and he slipped his hand down her pants. She kept saying NO and finally gave in. I think they had sex too and she said she enjoyed it.

Later she made a tweet saying it was gaslighting because she didn't find him attractive.

UBISOFT ANNOUNCES DEPARTURES AND REAFFIRMS ITS COMMITMENT TO IMPLEMENTING SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN ITS WORKPLACE CULTURE Paris –

July 12, 2020 – Today, Ubisoft announced several significant personnel changes that are a part of the comprehensive work the Company is doing to improve and strengthen its workplace culture. These departures come following the initiation of a rigorous review that the Company initiated in response to recent allegations and accusations of misconduct and inappropriate behavior.

Serge Hascoët has chosen to resign from his position as Chief Creative Officer, effective immediately. This role will be taken by Yves Guillemot, CEO and Co-Founder of Ubisoft, in the interim. During this time, Mr. Guillemot will personally oversee a complete overhaul of the way in which the creative teams collaborate.

Yannis Mallat, Managing Director of Ubisoft’s Canadian studios, will be stepping down from his role and will leave the Company, effective immediately. The recent allegations that have come to light in Canada against multiple employees make it impossible for him to continue in this position.

Additionally, Ubisoft will be appointing a new Global Head of HR to replace Cécile Cornet, who has decided to step down from this role, as she believes it is in the best interest of the Company’s unity. A search for her replacement will begin immediately, led by an industry-leading recruiting firm. In parallel, the Company is restructuring and strengthening its HR function in order to adapt it to the new challenges of the video game industry. Ubisoft is in the final steps of hiring a top international management consulting firm to audit and reshape its HR procedures and policies, as previously announced.

These changes are part of a comprehensive set of initiatives announced to employees on July 2, 2020. These initiatives are guiding Ubisoft’s renewed commitment to fostering an environment that its employees, partners and communities can be proud of – one that reflects Ubisoft’s values and that is safe for everyone.

I think so.

I am hoping with new leadership means there is going to be a new Prince Of Persia Game.

Hopefully, the working conditions at Ubisoft are getting better or will get better soon, and the victims will get help getting justice to punish their abuser.

I do hope it gets better but I think it will require a lot of work. As a lot have walked out, a lot of inside information got leaked because of it. Unless they replace the management that had all the allegations happen right under their nose, it won't change.

Another Ubi Exec left the company, read from dualshockers:

Tommy Francois, the vice-president of editorial and creative services at Ubisoft, has left the company after allegations of sexual harassment and sexual misconduct.

Francois is the latest in a number of high-profile departures from Ubisoft, namely coming from the company’s editorial team, which controls the development of a majority of the Ubisoft’s franchises. Specifically, Francois’s role left him in control of Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Watch Dogs.
