Back in June, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla director Ashraf Ismail removed himself from his position after allegations of cheating emerged on social media. Ismail, at the time, tweeted that he was leaving to “properly deal with the personal issues in my life.” While it seemed as though Ismail might have the opportunity to eventually return to Ubisoft later on, that is now no longer the case.
Reported by Bloomberg, it was confirmed today that Ubisoft has now outright fired Ismail from his position at the company. The move is said to have been made after Ubisoft formally looked into the situation internally. “As a result of investigations, Ashraf Ismail has been dismissed from Ubisoft and is no longer an employee,” a representative from the publisher plainly said in a statement.
In accompanying comments from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, he points out that Ubisoft likely terminated Ismail not simply for allegedly cheating on his spouse, but for levying his position as the director of AC to seemingly help him do so.
