I don't know why it isn't a multi-poll, but I would say make it an all around Nintendo forum just so people who like Nintendo and doesn't own a 3DS get the wrong idea and just passes over us due to our name.
Next I would say, more events. Like what? I don't know I'm sure people have better ideas in that department I just think they would be cool. Kind of like that one we did which was like Team Rocket week I think it was or Idk. We just had a whole week of something. It was like a year ago so don't expect me to remember.
Finally, if you make new themes, you should have it so that people can use the older themes because I like the red and black and I don't really want it changed. Unlike other people who do want it changed.
My vote personally goes to the "general nintendo/gaming forum". We'd appeal to so many more people this way and the game discussion would appeal to many more age groups if retro consoles were discussed more as well.
A new style and more events would be a breath of fresh air. What extra features did you have in mind? Perhaps the old rupee system?
Style revamp is practically a given now. As for new features... well, start posting them and I'll say.

Oh don't worry about themes. There's a style switcher there for good reason.

What about a personal online facecam feature? We could be able to play games while talking on this site and having a conversation face-to-face with others. It would be more like Skype but with gamers alike that are online. I really don't like to just type what I/we want to say, I want a more personal chatting feature where you can talk and play at the same time. Plus if we have somebody swear, we could provide a 'bleep' sound and a 'censored' sign over their mouth for those who are under 13, and don't want to hear it.
I don't know if you guys want to add that, but that's just my opinion. It would be great though.
We're coming up on the 20 year anniversary of DKC, Super Metroid, and Final Fantasy VI so maybe you could do a theme week for them? Super Metroid's 20 year anniversary is April 18th in the US and July 28th in the UK. Perhaps for April 13th-19th (or July 27th - Aug 2nd) we can have a special Metroid theme as the default? Perhaps a giveaway of Super Metroid on the Wii U?
October 19th is the 15th anniversary of Pokemon Yellow, perhaps have one of our Pokemaniacs write up an article on it? I also think the calendar should have a list of all upcoming releases for the 3DS (and Wii U if we become a general Nintendo forum). Drum up some hype for new releases. I don't recall seeing much about Bravely Default here (although I may have missed it) but I know on other gaming forums it was a big deal. I think our Nintendo 3DS Community banner should be bigger with a more stylized font.
EDIT: Geeze, I also just realized it's the 10 year anniversary of the release of the DS in the US and JP
