Shovel Knight was a really good Action 2D Platformer. So was Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon. It felt so much like the original Castlevania.
Haven't played Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon yet but the videos look good. But I kinda wish they used 16-bit for the graphics rather than the 8-bit.
Shovel Knight is about the only modern one I've played.
