Had a Panasonic 32 in 720p/1080i tv all last gen no problems. Really nice tv with low input lag. Online games were super smooth and everything. I've since brough both these TV's home and not sure which one to go with. One is pretty standard 39" 1080p 60 hz. Capable of the fake 120hz with motion on. The other one is 1080p 40 inch 120hz(240 cmr) with 3d enabled. I'm not sure I need 3d or 120hz. I messed around with it and it's nice to have the smoothing features though but seemed to have more problems with that tv too. possibly more input lag and the ps4 doing funky stuff at times. The picture did seem smoother though but could be my imagination. I am a nitpicker when it comes to ghosting and framerates. I hate that stuff but trying to keep it below $500. The 6030 is $499. The 5000 series is $369 so a pretty good price difference. $150 and the 5000 just doesn't have any bells and whistles.

These are the two best tvs I can find in my price range. Panasonic also has a 120 hz smart tv for $449 and sharp has a 42 inch 120hz tv for $429 without 3d or smart. I don't have any interest in a smart tv though and have read the Panasonic tv has issues with ghosting anyways. Done a lot of research. I just can't decide. The Samsung 5000 series seems to be the best for input lag and picture etc but it's 60hz. Just barebones.

I use a 60 inch (?) Vizio, it works fine but my kids Emerson has much better clarity. I haven't had any experiance with the 4K tv's yet, but if buying a new one it might be worth looking into

Does the brand of TV make a huge of a difference for playing games these days now that most good TVs have a 1080P screen resolution, faster pixel response times like under 10 MS to prevent ghosting problems, and 60 Hz video refresh times?

some brands are better than others, even if they have good numbers.

"With great Brand comes Great price"
It all depends on the costing of what you are going to purchase and your budget. You could buy a fullyloaded 4k TV which provides top notch quality, though it mite not be easy to see the differences in most of the cases. But on paper/numbers or benchmarking it does make a difference.

3D is a pretty useless feature to be honest nowadays unless you really want to watch those 3D dvds. Maybe in the future they will have 3D games but for now buy one without as it will be cheaper

I think 4K is also not really worth it like 3D because there is not a lot of content like movies, and games which are recorded/made in 4K. Plus, streaming 4K video from YouTube and Netflix uses a lot of bandwidth, so if your ISP restrict your bandwidth to 300GB or less, you may have to pay overage fees or have your internet connection suspended for a few days, or longer.

4K is still fairly new though, it may not be worth it now but in a few years it'll be the norm much like the HD tv's, when they first came out they were ridiculous expensive and now they are pretty much every tv made.

I feel it is a better idea to wait for more professional content like movies and tv shows to come out in 4K before getting a 4KTV since 4K TV sets still cost more than most regular HD televisions. In the future, There also maybe higher resolution TVs and video cameras which are 5-8K which are higher than 4K like how most HD TVs are 1080P instead of the lower resolution 720P which is less common thesedays. The features, price, and reliability will be better.

If you use a video camera like a GoPro Action camera to record your videos in 4K, or have a very powerful gaming PC which can play games in 4K, a 4K TV would be more worth it now.

There are so many, Samsung and Sony are one of the good TVs out there. I have Vizio and it was good but there is one draw back on the Vizio Tvs and their remote (ex. 2 tvs in one room, one remote can control both).
