Who actually uses the 3D feature?

Nintendo 3DS is like a DS and Wii combined with a 3D feature. But I, for one don't even use this 3D. It makes it harder to see what you're doing in the games. It's like the front window to your car lets you see everything 3D. Or like blurry vision when you see 3 of everything. I wil probably never use it in games. but i guess i use it on the 3DS when i'm not playing anything. just for everything to look cool.

iam actually suprised about the damage done to people's eyes. we have far more advanced technology for them to let that happen

I actually use it all the time, with the exception of NSMB2 (got it two days ago). The effect is very minimal and the backgrounds blur, which bothers me.

It is only damaging to children's eyes while they are developing, and only if they play for more than 6 hours a day. I wear contacts/glasses, so sometimes playing with 3D for too long will put some strain on my eyes, but in no way is it damaging. Its no Virtual Boy.

It really doesn't cause any severe damage to the eyes. It can just make them sore if you use the 3D feature too much, just like glasses and contact lenses and a whole bunch of other technologies.

EDIT: Didn't realize SpoonySage already addressed this. Whoopsies.

I only use the 3D because it doesn't bother me. Plus I'm too lazy to turn it off. I know. That's laziness to the extreame right there.

My response when I seen this topic was: Who actually plays with it off?!
I think you should clean your screen if you see blurriness or get in the sweet spot instead of seeing 3 of everything.

After a while you get used to the 3D effect but when you turn it off the games look flat, dull, and not very interesting to look at. So on full blast 24/7 for me.

I use the 3D all the time as well. I have never experienced eye-strain or damage. I also never have a problem with double vision... though I do tend to play NSMB2 in 2D because the 3D effect literally adds nothing to the game.

Excepted it's backwards for me, I rarely ever have it on. It doesn't bother me but I really don't bother to turn it on unless I think something might look really cool in 3D, but that's it.

I use it quite often. Lately I have cut back a little, on games such as NSMB2. Only reason being, when I have the bar fully up I can't ever get the 3D right. I always have to put it about half-way, or everything is in double-vision. It's a pretty neat feature that you can't really get anywhere else, so when my eyes aren't hurting and I feel like playing something in 3D I slide it up. I do get tired after a while and am forced to turn it off.

I rarely use it. It gives me a headache pretty quickly, and while it does look neat, I just don't find it -that- impressive. At least, not impressive enough that I want to get a headache and have to quit playing games!

i use the 3d feature when there's a game that doesn't make me move a lot and doesn't affect the background, example Resident Evil: Revelations I'm basically still and to me I feel that the 3D adds a bit more intensity it also makes the game look better. Mario Kart 7 I tend to move around and it doesn't really offer much 3D unless you get hit by the ooze or you're in that very faint moment when the sunlight captures your eye. New Super Mario Bros. 2 realy ruins it because it makes the background blurry although I like how the ashes come out the screen when you're in a stage with lava. The best one to use the 3D feature is Swapnote to me

I never use it. It's always off and glad Nintendo made it an option and didn't force it on is. I think it makes games look terrible and don't see a big difference between 2D and 3D. Obviously there's a difference, but to me 3D just looks terrible and doesn't make it any better.

Even games saying you need 3D can be done without it.

What games tell you its required to use the 3D to play it? To me honestly turn it the 3D feature onit gives it a better quality to your game not as in a 3D view just the quality, even at a very low 3D it looks the game look like an actual console game, like Resident Evil Revelations it looks like if I'm playing it on a Playstation or something.

Super Mario 3D Land stated that some of the levels required 3D. I didn't turn it on at all and completed that game 100% (besides accidentally using a gold leaf before learning it destroys your chance of shiny stars).

For me it's the opposite. The 2D look is much better in terms of quality.

not to be rude but i own and play 3D Land and it has never mentioned that is was required

That's not rude, never is rude correcting someone.

You're right, I read that elsewhere. It wasn't specifically the game, but it was IGN's review.

"You can play without 3D enabled, but it makes things considerably more difficult and frustrating - this game was designed to be played in 3D, and you can't fully experience it otherwise."

It wasn't difficult or frustrating in 2D at all.

you are right, but if the 3D was adding experience to it. It would also make the game more hard. i have problems enough with Mario going in different directions that i don't point the rotator in and falling all the time
