Why is buying anime not cheap?

Since a large part of the fandom are a bunch of NEETS, idk if they'll get enough money for it.

Well, even episodes and anime merchandise are expensive. I don't why they are expensive and I believe that's why anime streaming websites are this popular too. Well then as for why they are expensive, I think it's because they want to make money from people who are willing to spend.

Many people don't spend money and anime makers don't make much. May be that's why they are trying to get what they can from the people who is willing to spend.
