I feel many electric car drivers will keep their electric car for many years, or until their car traveled a very high mileage like 100000 miles. Most electric cars have most of the high tech electronics features like touchscreen stereo system, power windows, parking sensors, backup reverse camera, semi-autonomous driving features, internet service, and air conditioning, so there maybe less of a need for most electric car buyers to switch electric cars to get new features in the future.

In 2016, Steve Marsh's 5 year old 2011 Nissan Leaf electric car traveled 150000 miles which is over 240,000 km. His electric car can still go 42 miles when driving at a regular speed. He is still using his original battery. He claims his car have very few problems except for his old battery which can't hold as much electricity according to Exclusive Interview With Steve Marsh As His Nissan LEAF Hits 150,000 Miles (Original Battery)

Electric cars do have some nice features like fast acceleration, home charging, quiet running motor, low maintenance, unique aerodynamic design, etc which may make users want to keep the car for a long time.

New electric cars still cost more money to buy than most similar size gas cars. I think most people who buy an electric car will plan to keep it for many years as long as the battery still works after many years until the car cost too much money to repair at an affordable price like gas cars where repairing a old broken gas car can cost more than buying a more reliable new or used gas car which can give the owner many years of good reliability and a warranty to fix car problems.

If someone does not drive many miles a day and there are a lot of electric car charging stations where they live, they will be able to continue to use their electric car with an aging battery which can't hold as much electricity and go as far as a newer electric car.

Electric cars have fewer liquids like coolant/water, motor oil, and other things which can leak, and there are fewer parts which become rusted, so the car may last longer than a gas car.

Probably yes.
They are expensive and not to mention that they don't have to worry about gas anymore. Also, it's environment friendly.

Hopefully, most replacement electric car parts and repair will be affordable, so electric car owners can afford to fix their electric car instead of selling it for a few hundred to thousands of dollars or throwing it away to a junkyard like gas cars which sometimes cost many thousands of dollars to repair a gas car because the gas engine, engine cooling system, gas tank, and other broken gas parts can cost many thousands of dollars to repair, and may cost more than a new and more reliable used gas car.

possible, just depends how good they are.

I read some electric cars reviews and the reviews are good. I read articles that electric cars are easier to maintain than gas cars where there are more car related oils and liquids like motor oil, transmission fluid, engine coolant, and filters like oil and air filter etc which owners need to change in a gas car every year, or few years. Plus, people can't accidentally damage their electric car by accidentally filling it with diesel fuel, or putting poor quality motor oil, coolant and lubricants in their engine and transmission like a gas car where people can accidentally fill up their car with diesal fuel which will damage a gas car, or using the wrong type of motor oil, and lubricants which may not protect their engine, and damage it sometimes. The brakes on electric cars may last longer because electric cars use electric braking to regenerate power to charge the battery while slowing down.

Some countries like Norway will ban the sales of new gas cars in 2025, so there won't be any new gas cars for sale in 2025 in Norway and South Korea will ban the sales of new gas car in 2020 according to Countries That Will Ban Gasoline Cars

I feel people in Norway and South Korea may keep their electric cars for longer amounts of time because they don't have a choice in going back to buying a new gas car.

So this was pointed out to me recently, that electric cars still use up about the same amount of gas as a gas based car. Instead of the gas being in the car, its at the electric planet which is pumping more gas to create electricity.

I guess it depends on how well they last. I'm sure most people would love to keep their electric cars for long as long as they keep running well.

I feel some electric car owners may keep their car for as long as possible as long as their car's metal does not rust from road salt used for melting snow on the road.

Hopefully, more electric cars come with better metal protection from rust caused by road salt, and moisture in the air. I seen a lot of older gas cars where the metal is rusty, and the rust makes the car look ugly and can be unsafe to drive because there are rust holes in the body, floor, and other parts.

I feel the electric motors are less likely to rust like gas engines because usually electric motors don't need coolant/water and other liquids which can cause the metal to rust if the owner does not change their coolant after many years or miles, so things like rust, dirt, and other junk can harm their cooling system for their engine.
