With the recent rumours being all over the place, how 'powerful' do you think the Wii U will be?

Although it is all about guesses, I think it would be pretty stupid if a next-gen console will be weaker then a current-gen.

While what I can't stand are n00bs on YouTube that are like "HURR DURR WII U IS GAY PS4 AND XBOX 720 WILL BE WAY MORE BETTER HURR DURR" while both of them don't even exist.

It'd be quite pathetic if it still wasn't more powerful than the 360 and PS3. We've have 6 or 7 years pass since the current gen consoles first launched.

agreed. If they can't at the very least match current-gen, then they'll deserve all the derision they'll surely get.

Personally I think they need to be noticeably better. Not just on par, or some slight improvement somewhere. That doesn't really cut it. If you can't tell the difference, then why go for the Wii U, if you could get a PS3 with a vast back catalogue of discounted AAA titles for the same money or less.

Realistically, I think it'll be capable of crisp, clean, attractive visuals, and will almost certainly be better than current-gen in at least some respects. Maybe faster loading times. But I find the anonymous reports somewhat believable. I'm no longer expecting the quantum leap I would've liked to see.

Quantum leap? Not from the big N. The onl thing giving me a ray of hope of it being powerfull enough at least to match the PS360 is that the Darksiders II developer already made the game for Wii U and it will be a launch title and so far they have but praise for the system, saying that it even have some features and stuff extra for the Wii U.

Well, the leap between previous generations has been noticeably impressive. Look at the difference between SNES and N64, between PS2 and PS3. That's what you hope for. But you hear enough negativity, and you lower your expectations.

Every developer who's spoken officially on the record has had nothing but good things to say about the Wii U. But then that's always the way, isn't it. Very few people are going to stick their neck out and say bad stuff on record. It's just not good for business. You don't want to trust anonymous sources either, so it always comes down to wait and see.

Sony and Microsoft will probably come out with a new Playstation and a new Xbox with more power than the Wii U soon (as in a year or two) after.

Of course it will be more powerful then 360/PS3. But that doesn't matter. What matters is if it will be more powerful then 720/PS4, which it won't be.
Please...the PS4 and the 720 DOES NOT EXIST so PLEASE STOP MENTIONING THEM. End rant.

Listen everyone. The Wii U will definately have some good hardware power. Probably a little better than the PS4 and the Xbox 360. But It's too likey that the next-Gen consoles from Sony and Microsoft will be more powerful than the Wii U. By the way, at E3 this year, there will be no announcement from Sony about the PS4. They won't announce it until 2013 or possibly, 2014. Same for Xbox 720. Good day.

Well yeah, it won't be, and that doesn't matter, because no one expects it to be. How is that even possible, to release a more powerful console a year ahead of the competition, and probably for less money?

What will matter is how far behind it is. Everyone expects it to be at least somewhat behind. Looking forward to 2013/14, when 'PS4/Xbox 720' are presumably hitting the market, if Wii U looks like it's stuck in the previous generation, that'll be a disappointment. If it looks like it's behind the previous generation, that'll be a disaster.
