Wired or Wireless Mouse?

Which do you prefer using a wired or wireless mouse?

I accidentally left my wired mouse in the office last week. I don't plan on going back in this week so I decided to bite the bullet and just purchase a wireless mouse. The thing that I don't like is having to replace the batteries.

My Windows setup is wired, and for my iMac, I just is the wireless keyboard and mouse it came with. The rechargeable batteries are nice, except the Magic Mouse has the charging port on the bottom, which is kinda dumb, but if I charge it overnight or before I go to work, it’s not an issue.

Wired, no hassle with batteries and no lag for gaming like Xyphien said.

I prefer wired because I don't need to use batteries, and I won't need to deal with wireless lag and losing my mouse.

How peculiar... I guess they wanted to really discourage usage of the mouse while charging.

Tbh it’s pretty nice to not have to be tethered to a cable, and it frees up your USB ports. Some of the hardware I connect has latency issues if I use a hub, so freeing up two ports with a wireless mouse and keyboard was nice.

I find that I still have to occupy a USB port with an adapter to connect my wireless mice.

If you get a Bluetooth mouse, you don’t have to worry about an adapter. You shouldn’t worry too much about changing batteries, those usually last several months to a year. I’m just basing that off personal experience on the few that I own.

I've had people buy bluetooth mouses and say connection can drop at times.

That varies on how crappy the card is on your computer or how crappy your mouse is. Or your battery needed to be charged/replaced. YMMV, but I honestly can’t think of a time where my Bluetooth peripherals dropped a connection.

It’s like how I’ve never lost connection on any of my consoles with their controllers. I’ve only resynced them if the battery was dead because I didn’t play it for too long.

The peripherals I had dropped connections were the ones that needed those adapters.

I also say it because my phone doesn't do well with bluetooth at times, but then again it is 4 years old ^^;

I don't know what it is with the mouse I use but I feel like I'm replacing batteries every 6 months at least. Which is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Just annoying when I'm in the middle of a task. First world problems I guess. lol

6 months still isn't too bad, some people do like to overexaggarate and make it sound like you gotta change them significantly more frequently than it actually is.

Yes, I imagine if you're having to replace your mouse's batteries once a month then there's something wrong. Either the mouse is defective or the batteries are bad.

I think it’s people exaggerating an issue to try and prove a point, because there’s no batteries in wired peripherals.

It’s like how after solid state drives got more affordable, it’s fairly common to see people complain about hard drives being “fragile”. They’re technically right if you compare the two, but don’t act like we’re handling fine glassware.

Wireless for me. I currently use a wireless HP mouse for my laptop and I'm pretty happy with it. A wired mouse would just annoy me a lot because it would get in the way and look weird too.
