Well, some companies are talking about the possibility (like Microsoft with their recent tweets and Xbox 720 rumours), so would you honestly buy a system that required you to be online to play games?

I wouldn't. Honestly, my connection cuts out a fair amount as is, and I like playing games to kill time in that situation. Why would I want to make my video game console useless whenever the internet connection went down?

No. I don't like that style of DRM anyway, and I don't like that if you don't have internet, the device is useless. I wasn't planning on buying a new Xbox anyway, but even if I had wanted one before, the always on would have killed it for me.

I don't see any reason why a console would have to be online to be used. Maybe for some new fangled multiplatform account system that would seem like a bad version of something familiar...

It would be terrible.

I agree it would bad cause no one wants a stocker.I it is a stupid idea.why not make another Ds wait nooo cause no one wants to see another Ds system really I don't.

i voted yes because it would be against my intuition not to get it. but come on! leave it like the 3DS, DS, Wii, and Wii U. If a console/handheld is always online nonstop, it'll probably ruin your system as fast as lightning. I also have enough online problems as it is too, only with MK7.

Some online is better than no online or nothing but online. If systems were always online, what would we do with The Legend Of Zelda besides have Four Swords Adventure remakes? Show my quest's status to other people? No thank you!

No not everyone has online, not everyone can afford online and some connections should never BE online. If they force online there WILL be a large loss in sales because again not everyone has online.. Or want it.

Nope. I always play a game offline first before I want to be online. Even with games like ZombiU I would get really frustrated when someone else's zombie would jump out at me at an odd location because some idiot online died. Let me choose when I want to be online. They just want to force users to pay more money.

Absolutely not.

None of you own a PS3, I am guessing. Most games for PS3 - even third party ones like Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 - require you to hook up to the internet even to play single player mode so long as they have any multiplayer online capabilities. The reason being is so that Sony can monitor the devices and cut down on hackers and modders.

Anyone here recall the apocalyPS3? My console fell under that glitch and it was the same day MW2 released and all you saw were posts by other people with the glitch complaining about games not working offline. For me, I cared about getting onto PS Home as I do my FPS games on 360, but my White Knight Chronicles couldn't even be played offline single player. 3D Dot Game Heroes worked fine, however, because it has no online multiplayer of any sort.

So, with what I mentioned above, I don't see it being a HUGE difference from what Sony is already doing. And yes, I agree it is bull but it SOMEWHAT makes sense, although I don't agree with them doing so. I'm barely making ends meet and if I lost the internet and that meant I couldn't play my consoles as well, that would be awful. I'd probably buy the system but if I lost internet sell it.

I own a PS3 and none of the games I have for it require a constant internet connection to the point that I cannot play them if I'm not online. For the most part, I don't like to play online games as much besides specific games, like Mario Kart. And if my internet is down, I can still play MK7. And single player games (Or the single player portions) should not ever need to be connected to the internet, except perhaps for updates. There just isn't a need for it to always be connected.

The world needs to realize that not everyone has internet, or even particularly good internet at that. My husband and I have super, ridiculously fast internet that we rarely have problems with, but even then it does still occasionally go out. What happens if you're playing a game then? Oops, your done. And that save you were working on? Probably gone. I wouldn't want to play a game in constant fear of an internet bloop wiping everything I'd done or knocking me off the entire system. It's like buying a book, and no matter how sunny it is outside, or how bright the lights are in your house, if you haven't got a really expensive book-light constantly attached, the words vanish. Why would anyone buy that?

Of course, everything we've heard is just rumors. With luck, Microsoft delayed the release of their console so long so they can at least make it not horrendous if your internet goes out. It's caused a big enough uproar now (and with the ridiculous SimCity fiasco) maybe they'll have rethought their always on? I still wouldn;t buy one anyone, but there are a xbox lovers out there who are really upset over it.

If I can still play offline games, maybe.

If not, then I wouldn't even touch that console. I have internet but it is often slow (most likely due to the heavy rain which usually happens everyday). It'd be nice if we could stay connected to other players without the internet like using some sort of Bluetooth but with a very wide range.

No. I mean the one thing I hate about Halo 4 is Spartan Ops because even though you can play one player, you still need Xbox Live for some reason and that's just the worst.

Same with Team Fortress 2 on the Orange Box. I though the game was broken, but it turns out it's a multiplayer only game. Why would anyone want a multiplayer only game? Games aren't really meant to be played with other people. I mean you can, but really one player games are just far better.

EDIT: Unless it's Army of Two or Gears of War. Mainly because I trust my friend to heal me more than the dang CPU.

No, I understand some games require a constant connection. Whatever, I don't like it but i'l live with it. When they start putting it on the actual systems that draws the line. It's a slowly progressing system, I shouldn't even say i'm okay with anything that requires a constant connection, but the truth is I am.

Exactly the same situation I am in. Exactly the same thoughts I am having.

Wow, an XBOX 720! Finally! *Powers up the XBOX 720 and loads his new game* Hey, why can't I play my new game!
*Checks the screen and sees why the game failed to load* WHAT!? You need to be connected to the internet to play games? I don't have internet out here in this farm!!

I just wasted $1300 for some fancy hunk of plastic and metal that lights up!

(This is what would happen if I lived in a farm with no internet and was stupid)

So the answer is no.
