90s X-Men Animated Series Revival/Sequel Will Be On Disney+ 2024

Saw the first 2 Eps and they were great! Each member of the X-men really shined. and like the original cartoon they did Cyclops justice unlike the live action movies, he got nice action scenes too! though there's one thing I did not like, Rogue and Magneto ship thing from the comics was in the second ep. The ship from the comics irks me. Other than that it's great!

Cool Cyclops moments:

Disney confirmed that the Season 1 premiere of X-Men '97 has generated a total of 4 million views during its first five days on Disney+. Because of this, the revival has now officially become the streamer’s most-watched full-length animated series premiere. Prior to the show’s debut last March 20, Disney+ had already seen an impressive increase of 522% in the views for all five seasons of the original X-Men: The Animated Series. In addition to its rating success, the revival has also been receiving glowing reviews from critics, and is currently holding a 98% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 49 reviews.

Marvel Studios' producer Brad Winderbaum also revealed that production for Season 2 is on track with Season 3 already in development. X-Men '97 is now the second Marvel Studios series to have three seasons after Marvel's What If…? which is expected to resume later this year or in 2025. Winderbaum says X-Men '97 will remain faithful to the original show throughout even as it explores story arcs beyond the comics. He also acknowledged the contribution of former showrunner Beau DeMayo, who has reportedly finished writing Season 2 before he exited the project.

"Just like the original series that was drafting so heavily from Chris Claremont's work, we're continuing that," Winderbaum asserted. "We're looking at that late '70s, mid '70s to early '90s kind of era. We do start to play outside of the Chris Claremont sandbox a little bit into the '90s, almost getting to Grant Morrison. But it's definitely just like the OG series, it's drafting from the stories from the books."

read from CBR, One of the directors Emi Yonemura said this:

Production for X-Men '97's episodes is already comparable to big-budget feature films. "It feels like we're already making movie-level animation and events," she asserted. "But just to have that budget and time then to make it a full feature, and to kind of do what Spider-Verse and the recent animated [Mutant Mayhem] Turtles movie did..." Considering what the recent episodes of X-Men '97 showcased, audiences are truly in for a treat with a full-length feature film. "If the love and the demand is there from the fandom, and Marvel wants to let us do it, it'd be great to bring these X-Men, these characters, this style, and this work to the silver screen,"

Yonemura also settled fan speculations about X-Men '97's creative inspirations. "One of our influences was '80s and '90s Japanese animation," she confirmed. "Akira. Ghost in the Shell. Those levels." She then hinted at their stylistic approach for an X-Men '97 film if greenlit; a homage to the best anime classics. "It's like: Hey, you want to give us the money and budget to do that for you? But for X-Men '97? Gladly," she added.
