Also they said the game will have data link with Trails III and IV, wonder if this will also load the choices you made in III/IV and if they are going to affect the narrative in this one:
Data link bonuses for The Legend of Heroes: Zero no Kiseki and The Legend of Heroes: Ao no Kiseki are automatically obtained at the start of the Lloyd route, while the data link bonuses for The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III and The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV are automatically obtained at the start of the Rean route.

guess I'll be keeping my PS4 till I play this game then.

Also I read in Cold Steel IV if you load a complete savegame data of cold steel III and your Rean is in a relationship with Alisa there will be some dialogue/scene changes and stuff in a good way in cold steel IV. wonder if this will affect this 5th game too with the datalink.

and if you went the none alisa route?
probably you will be in a normal route in IV and I think the changes with the narrative if Rean is already in a ship with Alisa are going to be minor stuff ...though in this game (the 5th game) with Llyod's route Kondo is making Lloyd/Elie already in a ship and thus if you had Llyod in a ship with Rixia or other female characters other than Elie in Ao no kiseki then the ship will be vetoed by Kondo in this one.

Variant Rage
The Legend of Heroes: Hajimari no Kiseki introduces new attack / recovery techniques linked to the “tactical” link system that has appeared in the Trails of Cold Steel series. “Variant Rage” is an a variant tactical link command that can be activated when there are five or more members in the party.
The conditions for activating “Variant Rage” is to “have five or more members in the party.” By expending the Assault Gauge, you can activate one of the following commands: “Variant Attack,” “Variant Heal,” or “Variant Arts.”
Since standby party members also participate in “Variant Rage,” the damage dealt / amount healed is not only of a significantly higher level, it also increases based on the number of party members. Up to 10 party members can participate.
For commands that consume BP (Brave Points), “Variant Rage” comes with the added effect of BP recovery. BP commands include “Rush,” where two battle members perform a ranged attack; “Burst,” where four party members perform an all-out attack; “Brave Order,” which brings out various effects to the entire battlefield; and more.
Attack enemies with “Brave Orders” and “Rushes” early on in battle, then activate “Variant Rage” when you are running low on BP. Through the effective use of “Variant Rage,” such as to recover BP while dealing further damage to the enemy, you will be able to gain the upper hand—even in battles against tougher enemies.

Elie's 3d PLOT is looking good there in the second pic + noel's 3d back PLOT also not bad in the third pic. Though I reckon the game won't be using sophisticated Collision Detection Physics handling like Remake Tifa's PLOT so probably they will clip onto/into things lol.
