PlayStation Playstation 5

Tifa's PLOT bouncing at 180 FPS with the Ps5 Pro lol

Hrmm, I hope it isn't 2024, I'm speeding up on my gaming and I'm sure I'll be more than ready by 2023. Though I'll have to bat away the scalpers.

Official Console Covers:

Sony said consumers no longer need to connect their PlayStation 5 controllers to the console in order to update the firmware. Instead, consumers can update their PS5 controllers through the use of a PC with a firmware update app. However, users will need to have Windows 10 or Windows 11 in order to apply updates to their controllers. After downloading and installing the app, consumers can connect the PS5 controllers to their PC to apply firmware updates.

Instructions:

That's nice but... pointless?
Well if you want to game on PC with a Ps5 controller you can apply the firmware updates easily now without having to buy the console itself.

They announced variable refresh rate:

Today, we’re excited to announce that Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support will start rolling out globally to PS5 players this week. On HDMI 2.1 VRR-compatible TVs and PC monitors, VRR dynamically syncs the refresh rate of the display to the PS5 console’s graphical output. This enhances visual performance for PS5 games by minimizing or eliminating visual artifacts, such as frame pacing issues and screen tearing. Gameplay in many PS5 titles feels smoother as scenes render seamlessly, graphics look crisper, and input lag is reduced.* Previously released PS5 games can be fully optimized for VRR through a game patch and future games may include VRR support at launch.

Sounds like a nice update, not that many people can get it :p
lol

The frame pacing issue in games is my worst enemy in the gaming world lol, it's nice sony is doing this.

Read from Videocardz:
According to TCL, Sony and Microsoft could unveil new consoles already next year.

Polish website PPE took part in TCL press conference in Poland. The TV maker outlined its expectations from the console gaming market and how it will prepare for the arrival of even more powerful devices.

The 9.5th Gen of Sony and Microsoft consoles shouldn’t be considered next-gen. This mid-gen update would feature an updated model of both PlayStation 5 (possibly called Pro) and new Xbox Series S and X. The rumors about these consoles have started even before the current models were released. However, this is the first time a TV maker has provided its predictions.

The company expects that 8K capable devices could be unveiled with performance estimates of AMD Radeon RX 7700XT GPU. Naturally, this graphics card does not exist yet, however it is likely that it will be based on Navi 32 GPU with RDNA3 graphics. Thus far there is no confirmation on RDNA3 coming to consoles, but given how close were current gen consoles with RDNA2 graphics released to desktop Radeon series, this wouldn’t be a very fat-fetched prediction.

The render capability at 4K and output at 8K might depend on updated temporal upscaling techniques such as FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0, supported by AMD RDNA architecture.

Both consoles would launch no sooner than 2023. The PS4 and Xbox One series took 4 years to get a mid-product-cycle update and 7 year for a successor. Neither Sony nor Microsoft have confirmed that such updated consoles are planned. AMD, who supplies its SoCs to both console makers have not made any comments either.

Read from CBR:

Sony hopes to cash in on the holiday season sales rush by ramping up production of its PlayStation 5 consoles to make them more widely available and less of a challenge to purchase. In its most recent financial earnings report, Sony says it plans to increase production of its flagship next-generation console, thanks to what it describes as a ‘significant improvement’ in its supply chain. Ideally, this would lead to increased output and subsequently a wider availability across the marketplace.

A new Ps5 model with detachable disc drive coming? read from CBR and Insider Gaming:

A new report indicates that Sony may plan to roll out a new version of its PlayStation 5 console that includes a detachable disc drive.

According to industry insider Tom Henderson's new website, Insider Gaming, a leak suggests Sony may give the console a major remodel for its fiscal year 2023, with the updated PlayStation 5 launching sometime around September 2024. Sources claim the new version will replace the current A, B and C chassis produced by the company since the console's release. Reportedly, the updated edition, currently called the D chassis, will use a detachable disc drive connected to the central system with an additional USB-C port in the back of the console. However, the rest of the system remains the same configuration with almost identical hardware.

Reportedly, the new PlayStation 5 will be sold on its own or in a bundle with the detachable disc drive. Gamers can also purchase the detachable disc drive on its own in case of situations where the original got damaged. The sources also noted that, while the disc drive will be portable, it attaches to the system in a way that does not appear external. Some noted this could be a lighter version of the PlayStation 5, something requested by many consumers.

It’s nice to see other people have to seem them happy for themselves also I don’t have a ps5

I read that, very... odd? I thought the disc based PS5 was more popular.
