PlayStation Playstation 5

I love the slick look although I think pre-orders have been a bit crazy! I wonder what they'll do to keep up with them?

they simply can't? Just keep shipping them out, week after week till everyone gets one.

Sony just posted details on the ps4 backward compatibility stuff:

The PlayStation 5 console is backward compatible with the overwhelming majority of PlayStation 4 games. That means an amazing collection of thousands of PlayStation 4 games can be played on your PlayStation 5 console.

■ PlayStation 4 Games Playable on PlayStation 5 Consoles

The overwhelming majority of the 4,000-plus PlayStation 4 games are playable on PlayStation 5 consoles.

  • Select PlayStation 4 games will benefit from the PlayStation 5 console’s Game Boost, which may make PlayStation 4 games run with a higher or smoother frame rate.
  • Although many PlayStation 4 games are playable on PlayStation 5 consoles, some functionalities that were available on the PlayStation 4 console may not be available on PlayStation 5 consoles. In addition, some PlayStation 4 games may exhibit errors or unexpected behavior when played on PlayStation 5 consoles.
  • Before purchasing add-ons to play with your PlayStation 4 games on PlayStation 5 consoles, please try to boot and play your PlayStation 4 games on your PlayStation 5 console to see if you are happy with the play experience.
  • Please note, playing PlayStation VR games on a PlayStation 5 console requires a PlayStation VR headset, a PlayStation Camera (sold separately from PlayStation 5 console) and a PlayStation Camera adaptor (no purchase required).
  • Always update your PlayStation 5 console to the latest version of the system software.
  • Select PlayStation 4 titles will see increased loading speeds on the PlayStation 5 console, and will also leverage Game Boost, offering improved or more stable frame rates. Some titles with unlocked frame rates or dynamic resolution up to 4K may see higher fidelity. Additionally, PlayStation 4 games will also take advantage of some of PlayStation 5’s new UX features, but more to come on that later.
  • Backward compatible PlayStation 4 games included in PlayStation Plus or PlayStation Now will run on PlayStation 5.
  • Remote Play from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation Now streaming are supported. The benefit of streaming is that you can save your storage space on PlayStation 5. Please note that PlayStation 4 games will not leverage PlayStation 5’s Game Boost through streaming.
  • The ability to transfer game saves between a PlayStation 4 version and a PlayStation 5 version of the same game is a developer decision, and will vary title by title for cross-generational games.
    • For Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, when players decide to upgrade from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 their game saves will transfer.
    • Sackboy: A Big Adventure also will support game save transfers from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 in an update that will be delivered shortly after the release of the game.
■ PlayStation 4-Only games

While the majority of PlayStation 4 games are playable on PlayStation 5 consoles, below is a list of PlayStation 4 games that are playable on PlayStation 4 only. It kills me they had to mention ps4 discs won't work in the discless ps5

Maybe Sony will release a USB disc drive for the PS5 to play PS4 games, or rekease an app to let you use the Blu-ray drive on your Windows PC on a PS5 by using wi-fi or ethernet networking.

I feel buying the disc version of the PS5 is a better deal because users can pkay their old disc games, and you dont risk losing all your games if your PSN account got deleted by Sony or a hacker, and your PS5 breaks or get stolen...

Looks like it was a UI tease. The UI looks amazing and I can't wait to try it out.

Saw the Burger King ad on Ps5:

Just read this for siliconera, latest poll on the ps5's confirm button being 'X' instead of 'O' for Japanese gamers:

Inside Games held a poll asking Japanese players whether they have any objection to this unified layout. There were three options offered in the poll:
  1. I agree. It’s even better to unify it.
  2. I have no problem with it, as long as I can change it with a local setting.
  3. I disagree. I want to confirm with the O button.
After the poll closed with 1,047 votes counted, Inside Games found out that only 254 voters (24.3%) are in favor of the unified button layout. 333 votes (31.8%) went to the middle compromise option, while there are 458 voters (43.7%) that opposed it and prefer the O button confirmation.

Many of the users who voted for supporting the unified layout have been familiar with Western games and thus can quickly adapt to confirming with the X button. Even so, some of them are still concerned that this may not be universally applied to PS4 games that can be played with backwards compatibility.

I can already tell that it's going to be one very sexy looking PlayStation Store
